Mindfulness program offering free online classes

In effort to support well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic, the HSC Mindfulness Program is offering several levels of engagement to enhance relaxation response and resilience—all free of charge.

  1. Through May 15, the Mindfulness Squad will host 20-minute virtual meditation sessions three days per week, led by a trio of experienced and knowledgeable mindfulness instructors. Participants of all levels of experience are invited to learn and experience the numerous health benefits of regular meditation. Meditations are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:15 a.m.–11:35 a.m. and Wednesdays from 1:15 –1:35 p.m.
  2. Additionally, departments and groups from WVU and WVU Medicine are encouraged to schedule virtual monthly workshops. These free, hour-long workshops explore a variety of modern mindfulness-based techniques, including: mindful eating, mindful movement, mindful listening and the science of mindfulness practice. Sampler workshops are designed to help participants effectively improve stress response, in an effort to create a calmer, more resilient mind.
  3. And finally, if you're looking to deepen your mindfulness practice, a virtual six-week Mindful Steps series will run every Monday (through May 11) from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.. The series focuses on different themes each week from mindful eating and mindful communicating to yoga and the science of mindfulness research, all designed to create better mind-body connectivity and understanding that can positively influence your relationship to stress.

All mindfulness programming is free for students, faculty, staff, and employees of WVU and WVU Medicine. Stay connected via daily mindfulness Facebook sessions and the Mindful Steps series website
