Nursing student presents at 14th annual Summer Undergrad Research Symposium

WVU Nursing student Emma Pittman presented her research Thursday, July 28 during the Office of Undergraduate Research's 14th annual Summer Undergrad Research Symposium at the Erickson Alumni Center.

Pittman, who was recently selected for the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE), presented her poster, "Access to Care through Faith Communities in Mingo County." Pittman is the first nursing student to be awarded a spot in the SURE program.

The Summer Symposium was an in-person poster session open to WVU students, students in WVU summer research programs and undergraduate students from the region who wish to showcase their summer research and creative efforts.

Angel Smothers, a clinical associate professor with the WVU School of Nursing, has served as Pittman’s faculty mentor for the program.
