BECKLEY, W. Va. — Rising eighth, ninth and tenth grade high school students who are interested in a nursing career are invited to apply for the Southern West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy.
Set for June 23-24, 2026, the academy will be held at the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus, located at WVU Tech.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn real-life nursing skills, such as taking vital signs, learning infection control and sterile procedures, and visiting the on-campus skills lab and area hospitals.
“The Southern West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy is an incredible experience for students in the area to explore nursing as a career,” said Hillary Parcell, Beckley Campus Chair. “Our participants have so much fun throughout the event, especially during the hands-on learning opporutnities.”
Students who wish to apply must have a 3.0 GPA and they must submit a brief essay explaining their interest in attending.
Applications must be received by March 1, 2026.
