Pursuing Excellent Pediatric Care
What made you consider nursing as a career?
I wanted an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children.
What set WVU School of Nursing apart from other colleges for you?
As a proud WV native, WVU was my school of choice. I loved WVU’s campus, extra curricular activities, and service opportunities. The WVU School of Nursing offered an excellent curriculum with a friendly learning environment.
Could you share a positive experience from your time at the SON?
Serving as a TA while receiving my Master’s degree was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I found joy in teaching others while furthering my own education. I also had the honor of representing WVU SON as Ms. Mountaineer.
What's one piece of advice you would give your younger self about your educational path?
You are exactly where you need to be. As a student, there are times you may feel overwhelmed and allow self doubt to creep in. During those times, it’s important to take a moment to reflect and reassure yourself that you are strong, capable, and exactly where you are meant to be.
How has your SON education helped you in your career?
SON education pushed me to excel in the field of Pediatrics. Learning from passionate and driven educators gave me the confidence to become an autonomous practice PNP and open a Pediatric Primary Care office. I was proud to tell my previous program director/mentor, Dr. Deiriggi, that I had officially opened my practice.
