Nursing Competencies and Networking in Addiction Care
The purpose of this activity is to provide nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to function as case managers for a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program within community-based and primary care settings and to create a network of support for nurse care managers (NCM) in that role.
This is a free CNE program content on the Core Curriculum for Addiction Nursing with a focus on opioid use disorder. It is ideal for any RN or APRN interested in learning more about caring for patients with addiction or in preparation for taking the certification exam in addictions nursing (CARN/CARN-AP).
The NCM coordinates and provides care to patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). The program consists of nine learning modules totaling 13.3 hours of NCPD units, including 4.0 units of pharmacology for APRNs.

The West Virginia University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
