Weese to meet with Health Sciences and WVU Medicine community

Narvel G. Weese, Jr., WVU’s vice president for administration and finance, will be the special guest at an open forum for Health Sciences and WVU Medicine faculty, staff, and students at noon Thursday, May 11, in the Fukushima Auditorium in the WVU Health Sciences Center.

WV Prevention Research Center partners with Save the Children and WVU CED, implements recovery program to support flood victims

WVPRC partnered with Save the Children and the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities to bring the disaster-tested Journey of Hope program to West Virginia. The signature program, which was developed by Save the Children in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina, is now helping flood-affected children build resiliency, identify and cope with their feelings, and strengthen their social support networks.

Week-long course offered highlighting holistic approach to wellness

Foundations of Wellness (SBHS 630, CRN 52244) is an intensive, week-long course designed to give students a retreat-like, experiential learning opportunity. The course combines readings, mindfulness exercises, in-class lectures, discussions, group learning activities, and more to bolster overall understanding of wellness.

National healthcare expert to deliver Jenab lecture, nursing students to be honored

Dr. Michael Bleich, a nationally and internationally recognized healthcare expert, will present “Nursing Leadership: A Call to Action” at the West Virginia University School of Nursing’s 2017 Lorita D. Jenab Lectureship. The event will be held on Thursday, April 27, in Okey Patteson Auditorium at the Health Sciences Center beginning at 6 p.m. 

Last chance to tell your health story

Renee Nicholson of the Eberly College of Arts & Sciences and Nancy Andrews of the Reed College of Media will return to the Health Sciences Center April 19 for the last health storytelling workshop of the academic year. The session will be from 12 noon-1 p.m. in Room 3022 Health Sciences North.

WVU Heart and Vascular team invite public to Evening of Science on April 17

The university community will have an opportunity to learn about innovations in cardiovascular therapies and imaging at WVU's Heart and Vascular Institute during an “Evening of Science” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mon., April 17 at the WVU Media Innovation Center in Evansdale Crossing, Morgantown.
