WVU to hold inaugural Day of Giving Nov. 8

One day. The words suggest a moment and a future. Both are being emphasized on Nov. 8 as WVU is reaching out to students, alumni and friends, encouraging them to make a gift – especially ones that go to the general, unrestricted needs of the University and its schools and colleges.

Health Sciences LGBTQ Healthcare Advocacy and Inclusion Week

SHAPE (Student Healthcare Alliance for Promoting Equality), along with the WVU Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics and the Divisions of Internal Medicine and Plastic Surgery are sponsoring a week-long lecture series in the Health Sciences Center from October 23 - 27 focusing on LGBTQ health.

Creating inclusive communities for veterans and families

A lunchtime panel discussion on veterans' issues will be held at WVU Oct. 12, moderated by  moderated by Dr. Sandra "Sam" Cotton of the WVU School of Nursing. The discussion starts at 12 noon in the Fukushima Auditorium at the Health Sciences Center. 

WVU, WV attorney general expand eighth grade drug prevention program

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and West Virginia University have partnered to expand a program aimed at sharing drug abuse prevention information with eighth grade students in West Virginia.  The initiative, launched in March with the West Virginia University School of Nursing, now also involves West Virginia University’s School of Pharmacy and two other universities.  

Student and faculty international travel grants available

In honor of the legacy of a long-time staff member in WVU’s Global Health Program, the Global Engagement Office (GEO) at Health Sciences is pleased to announce that the application period for the Nancy Sanders Memorial Student Travel Grant and the Nancy Sanders Memorial Faculty Research Abroad Grant is now open.
