The WVU Cancer Institute Lung Cancer Screening Program will provide screenings for current and former smokers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 15 at the WVU Medicine outpatient center located at University Town Centre.
School of Social Work hosts Behavioral Health Summit
The WVU School of Social Work’s Rural Integrated Behavioral Health Training Program, joined by the California University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh Behavioral Health Training Programs, will host a Behavioral Health Summit on March 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

WVU oncologist researches new treatment for cervical and vaginal cancers
Cervical cancer can be insidious. Changes to the cervix are often detected with a pap smear, but for those with limited access to health care, cervical and vaginal cancers can go unnoticed for years—silently growing, spreading and invading other organs—and by the time they’re detected, they may be so advanced that the patient’s prognosis is poor and her treatment options few.
WVU in the News: DHHR and WVU to implement drug epidemic pilot project in Berkeley and Jefferson counties
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ (DHHR) Office of Drug Control Policy has partnered with West Virginia University (WVU) on a pilot project to address substance use at the local level in Berkeley and Jefferson counties. The initiative, championed by Gov. Jim Justice, will work with community partners to strengthen and expand prevention and recovery resources.
