WVU School of Nursing welcomes faculty and student projects during Research Week 2023
The research display including 21 research manuscripts from 48 faculty members; 16 scholarship papers, including book chapters, education and clinical articles from 40 faculty members; and 14 abstracts for presentations, both oral and posters, from 40 faculty members. Additionally, 24 students were involved across these projects.
WVU Engaged Scholar Institute announces inaugural cohort
The inaugural cohort of 23 scholars, including Clinical Associate Professor Angel Smothers with the WVU School of Nursing, were selected for their dedication to community engagement, will be crucial in advancing scholarship, promotion and tenure support, and community engaged practices at WVU.
WVU School of Nursing announces new Associate Dean roles
Dr. Emily Barnes will now serve as our Associate Dean for Faculty Practice, and Dr. Angel Smothers will assume the newly established role of Associate Dean for Community Engagement.

WVU School of Nursing undergraduate students, led by clinical instructor Derrick Conner, are supporting the health and well-being of the Morgantown community by offering free local health screenings at The Foundry Church on High Street in Morgantown before and after Sunday services.

During the recent 2023 WVU Day at the Legislature, youngsters and adults alike stopped by the WVU School of Nursing table to locate a heartbeat on SAM, a Student Auscultation Manikin from the WV STEPS Center.

Emily Barnes and Billie Vance, authors of "Transitioning a Graduate Nursing Physical Examination Skills Lab to an Online Learning Modality," are featured in a video in which they describe the transition, compare NP student performance outcomes, and evaluate faculty satisfaction and student satisfaction and confidence in learning.
Faculty Feature: Pamela Rodriguez
Becoming a nurse was not part of Pamela Rodriguez’s original game plan. She obtained her engineering degree from West Virginia University and worked as an engineer in the coal mines for seven years. The profession was a difficult one as a woman, but she forged her own path.
