Office Based Medication Assisted Treatment with Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (OBMAT/MOUD)
The purpose of this nursing continuing professional development activity is to provide nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to function as case managers for a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program within community-based and primary care settings and to create a network of support for nurse care managers (NCM) in that role.
The NCM coordinates and provides care to patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). The program consists of nine learning modules totaling 13.3 hours of NCPD units, including 4.0 units of pharmacology for APRNs.
These programs were funded by the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as part of the WV State Opioid Response grant.
The West Virginia University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
