KEYSER, W. Va. — As part of the WVU School of Nursing’s LPN to BSN program, students recently met for their first clinical lab as part of the NSG 213 course, “Transition to Professional Nursing.”
Instructor Dr. Heather Dignan provided a tour of the nursing wing; introduced students to their new "manikin family," LPN to BSN track coordinator Mary Keister, and other department faculty and staff members; and then actively engaged students in discussions about lifelong learning, their nursing trajectory, and their learning styles, strengths, and opportunities.

The NSG 213 course is specifically designed to help the licensed practical nurse transition from practical to professional nursing, focusing on assessment, advanced skills, and clinical judgment. The WVU School of Nursing is committed to ensuring that the LPN to BSN bridge is as smooth as possible, with support and resources built in.

Applications for the next cohort are due July 1. For more information about the program, please contact Director of Recruitment Phillip Engelkemier at phillip.engelkemier@hsc.wvu.edu.
