Jennifer Mallow, PhD, FNP-BC, assistant professor at the WVU School of Nursing and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar, will participate in a roundtable discussion on genomics and precision health at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine on Nov. 9 in Washington, D.C. 
Today’s healthcare environment has witnessed growth in mobile technologies to improve patient care. The genomics and precision health roundtable will explore the challenges and best practices specifically associated with the development of genomics-based mobile health applications; focus on communication between various groups including developers, clinicians and patients; and address strategies for integrating mobile healthcare data into research and clinical care. The group also will discuss privacy issues related to such mobile health practices.
Dr. Mallow, who developed and tested the mI Smart (Mobile Improvement of Self-Management and Ability through Rural Technology) platform which has helped bring healthcare into the homes of rural patients using mobile technology, will join healthcare professionals from all over the country in sharing ideas and identifying opportunities to improve and grow this important healthcare initiative.
