The Perry G. Fine, M.D., Pain Lecture Series will be held on Monday, October, 16, 2017, at the WVU Health Sciences Center, Okey Patteson Auditorium in Morgantown, West Virginia from 4 to 8 p.m.
WVU, WV attorney general expand eighth grade drug prevention program
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and West Virginia University have partnered to expand a program aimed at sharing drug abuse prevention information with eighth grade students in West Virginia. The initiative, launched in March with the West Virginia University School of Nursing, now also involves West Virginia University’s School of Pharmacy and two other universities.

September 12 kicks off national Health Care Simulation Week, and the WV STEPS Center welcomes visitors to a series of events highlighting simulation education.

Festival of Ideas presents ‘Opioid Crisis in America’ with Dr. Petros Levounis
Join Dr. Petros Levounis as he discusses the opioid crisis of the 21st century. The opioid crisis can be traced back to the 1980s when a catastrophic medical mistake opened the door to liberal prescribing of narcotics. The perfect storm of powerful molecules, complex brain physiology, and an over-aggressive pharmaceutical industry, which capitalized on that original error, lead to the current epidemic.
Coming soon: MyExpenses will reduce risk of error, speed up reimbursements
Faculty and staff are invited to learn about the new travel and expense management tool, MyExpenses, at several open-house demonstrations around campus in August. Reservations are not required.
West Virginia health research gets $55 million boost
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Recommitting themselves to bring the benefits of research out of labs and hospitals and into the lives of West Virginia people and communities, a coalition of federal agencies, universities, hospitals and clinics will develop dozens of efforts over the next five years to battle addiction and cancer and reduce the impact of cardiovascular and neurological diseases.
