Colleen Kroll, a family nurse practitioner in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at WVU Medicine and a clinical instructor at the WVU School of Nursing, has been named the 2025 Remarkable Woman of West Virginia.

Supporters of West Virginia University donated a record $46.2 million Wednesday (March 26) during the University’s eighth Day of Giving. More than 10,300 gifts were made during the 24-hour online fundraising event held across the University system, also a record. The $46.2 million figure tops 2024’s WVU Day of Giving record of $30.4 million raised from over 8,500 gifts.
Starting in Fall 2025, the WVU School of Nursing will offer a new elective course for senior nursing students — NSG 409: Emerging Technologies and Innovations in Healthcare.
Thanks to the generosity of 120 gifts during WVU Day of Giving 2025, the WVU School of Nursing raised more than $1.3 million — the seventh largest total of any department across the WVU system.

WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus junior students recently volunteered during a Day of Service with the Salvation Army. The students dedicated their time and skills to assist with various initiatives, including distributing food, organizing donations, and engaging with community members in need.
Victoria Weser, a senior at the WVU School of Nursing, always knew she wanted to help people, but college wasn’t initially part of her plan. “The plan was to become an EMT or a 911 operator,” said Weser, of Wexford, Pennsylvania. “My godmother has been a nurse for 40-plus years, and she asked, ‘Why don’t you give it a shot?’”
