The WVU School of Nursing has teamed up with Suncrest United Methodist Church to launch a community initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. Together, they are building and stocking “Blessing Boxes,” which are supply boxes placed in accessible community settings to provide free food and hygiene items to those in need.
Through a new pathway established with LevelUpWV, the WVU School of Nursing’s Beckley Campus will soon allow high school students to complete the first year of the nursing major during their junior and senior years.

The WVU School of Nursing will welcome Dr. Devon Noonan as the keynote speaker for the Kandzari Lectureship, set for Thursday, April 23, 2026. The lectureship, “Rural Health Nursing: Grounded in Community Based Solutions,” will be held at the WVU Health Sciences Center, Okey Patteson Auditorium.
Hillary Parcell, WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus Chair, has been named one of WVU Tech’s Alumni of the Year. A 2008 graduate from WVU Tech, Parcell earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has since earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2011, and she is currently working toward her Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies.
Peggy Fink, an associate professor at the WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus, has been selected as one of five 2025 Professor of the Year finalists by the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia.
Kaelyn Wright, a WVU School of Nursing junior, has been selected for a study abroad scholarship by the Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
