External Scholarships
WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program
This program provides financial and human-centered support to nursing students enrolled at select schools in West Virginia and neighboring regions. Students accepted into the program will receive up to $25,000 in exchange for a three-year work commitment following graduation.
West Virginia Nursing Scholarship Program
This program provides scholarships to LPN, RN, LPN teaching certificate, and masters or doctoral nursing students. In exchange for agreeing to complete a service obligation in West Virginia, participants receive scholarship funds for their nursing programs.
Master of Science in Nursing Scholarship
If you are a currently enrolled or recently accepted student in the Master of Science in Nursing program you may be eligible for $1,000 in scholarship money. Applications are open through December 1st and are offered annually.
Save a Life Scholarship
Awarded by the American Academy of CPR and First Aid twice a year to those pursuing healthcare or education degrees, recipients receive a $1500 award for both spring and fall semesters. Applicants may only win the scholarship once, but may reapply if they do not win the award.
Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service – America’s Health Responders
A highly competitive program for full-time students about to begin their final year. Participants become Commissioned officers in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), receive full pay/benefits for 12 months, and agree to work for the USPHS immediately after graduation.
NURSE Corps Scholarship Program
This program enables you to fulfill your passion to care for underserved people. Participants receive financial support, including: tuition, eligible fees, annual payment for other reasonable costs (books, clinical supplies/instruments, uniforms), and a monthly stipend.
Banyan Scholarship for Clinical Education and Healthcare Professions
This scholarship offers $1,000 to help ease the financial burden for students pursuing careers in mental health, addiction treatment, or other healthcare fields. The recipient will be announced on June 4, 2026.
