December Commencement

The School invites all students graduating in August 2025 and December 2025 to participate in the December 20, 2025 Commencement Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. at the WVU Coliseum.

Tickets are NOT required for Commencement.

All Traditional BSN and Accelerated BSN students will be pinned.

Graduates needing accessibility services should contact their accessibility specialist.

Please visit the WVU December Commencement page for additional information and to complete the online registration form to register to walk in Commencement. The online registration form will go live on the website after the application to graduate closes.

Regalia

Academic regalia (cap, gown, and tassel) is REQUIRED for commencement for all students and faculty. The School does not carry extra regalia or tassels to rent or borrow. Regalia can be ordered through the HSC Bookstore by calling 304-293-4849, or through Herff-Jones. Latin honor cords will be distributed by individual colleges prior to graduation day.

The deadline to order for pickup at the bookstore is Sunday, October 26, 2025 but you can choose ship to home until Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Day of Schedule and Details

  • Commencement will take place at the WVU Coliseum (3450 Monongahela Boulevard, Morgantown, WV). Parking will be available at the venue.

  • Arrive at 8:00 a.m. and report to the Basketball Practice Facility across from the Country Roads Gate. No one other than the graduate will be permitted into the check-in area.

  • Ceremony begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will last approximately 2 hours.

  • All graduates who have earned hoods will be hooded. Hoods will be carried in, draped over the left arm. Hooders should process in and sit with the graduate they are hooding. Faculty are required to wear regalia to participate.

    • Tip: use or bring a safety pin to secure your hood to the inside of your regalia for comfort.

  • Programs will only be available online by scanning the QR code, which will be displayed at the venues during Commencement Ceremonies, and on the Graduation Website.

    • Graduates who were approved to graduate in August and December 2025 will have their names printed in the program. Everyone who participates will have the opportunity to have your name announced, be pinned or hooded and walk across the stage.

  • Diplomas will be mailed after all grades are finalized and certified by the WVU Office of the Registrar.

  • WVU has contracted with GradImages to provide quality graduation photos of each student. Proofs will be emailed to the student within 48 hours ofthe ceremony.

Parking

Free parking is available at the Coliseum and the Canady Creative Arts Center. There will be parking staff and University Police officers stationed to help direct you to the nearest parking area.

Clear Bag Policy

To provide a safer environment for guests and to ease entry into event venues, a Clear Bag Policy will be implemented for all commencement ceremonies. WVU’s Clear Bag Policy limits the size and type of bags that guests may bring into an event venue. Guests with prohibited bags cannot enter.

The Morgantown area has a number of hotels for guests looking for overnight accommodations. Visit the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau to book a hotel, as well as get information on activities and events in the area.
