Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program, offered on the Morgantown and Bridgeport campuses, is designed for full-time study. After 18 months of continuous enrollment, successful students obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and are eligible to take the licensing examination for the registered professional nurse (RN). Upon completion of the BSN, those graduates who wish to continue for the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) can apply for admission through the MSN program.

We offer the opportunity for students to learn in state-of-the-art simulation facilities where they practice patient care without fear of jeopardizing patient safety. At Bridgeport, students have the convenience of their classrooms and skills labs being just steps away from their clinical facility at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center (UHC). At Morgantown, students have access to the WV STEPS Center, which features a wide range of patient simulators and practice exam rooms.

Throughout the academic and clinical experiences, students will focus on the five core competencies that provide the framework for the ABSN curriculum, including critical thinking, nursing interventions, professional role, caring, and communication which are outlined in more detail in our Student Handbook.
