Why do you want to be a nurse?

There are endless reasons as to why I pursued nursing, but the two most important to me are education and advocacy. In nursing, there is always room to learn. I truly believe you never stop learning, and that the most rewarding part of it is being able to apply that knowledge, in your life or someone else’s. Being able to advocate for someone else means a great deal to me as well, I want to make a positive, memorable difference in someone’s life, and nursing gives me the opportunity to do so.

What does the Nursing Pledge Ceremony mean to you?

It makes my journey in nursing feel even more surreal than it already has. This milestone is one of many to come but marks the true transitioning into nursing school. It is an honor to be able to make a commitment to myself, peers, and profession.

Why did you choose WVU School of Nursing?

After touring WVU School of Nursing, I knew this is where I wanted to settle. The staff, and resources available, set you up for great success. The School of Nursing has a welcoming community, accompanied by some of the most advanced technology I have ever seen. The visuals, manikins, and equipment, come together to give you the most realistic scenario possible. I have learned so much already, and the faculty and resources are a massive contribution to that.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

After graduation, I hope to work in the pediatric intensive care unit, and potentially further my education by attending graduate school to become a nurse practitioner in pediatrics!

Anything else you’d like to add?

I would like to thank my family, peers, and faculty. They have been incredibly reassuring, and supportive.
