What made you consider nursing as a program of study?

I’ve wanted to be a nurse since I was 10 years old and won a breast cancer t shirt contest for my local hospital. I saw how big of an impact it made on so many people at the event that I wanted to continue to help others.

Why did you choose WVU School of Nursing?

I’ve always been a WVU fan and once I heard it had the best program in the state I was even more interested.

Why did you choose your particular campus location?

This one is the main one everyone talks about and it’s my home away from home.

Could you share a positive experience from your time at the SON?

I have made so many friends and have learned so many things from the amazing instructors we have. Every time I go to clinical I feel like I’ve gained a new skill.

What does scholarship support mean to you?

It means less worry and more opportunity. Knowing there’s some safety when it comes to my tuition helps me do what I was made to do all the more easy.

If you could say something to potential scholarship donors, what would you say?

[To our scholarship donors,] thank you so much for everything you do — not only for myself but for the other students' lives you have impacted. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and I hope that maybe I can do the same in the future for another student. Truly, it’s an inspiration and a blessing.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

I hope to work at my local hospital in south Charleston in the new pediatric unit and help give back to my community.

Why would you recommend WVU SON to someone?

It’s an amazing experience and one like no other especially in the state of West Virginia. This is my home state and knowing that I can get an amazing degree from the best program helps me understand why having this opportunity and getting my education is so important. This program is unique and will definitely create amazing nurses like no other.
