Meet Brenna.
While her background is dental hygiene and real estate, Brenna Goodson has always wanted to become a nurse.
"It’s always been about timing because I have three kids," she shared. "Since Bridgeport opened their new School of Nursing program, it happens to be two miles from my house, so I thought, 'What better time than now to chase my dreams? Why wait?'"
She enrolled at the WVU School of Nursing's Bridgeport Campus, located at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center, in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
"It is a struggle to balance home life with school, but I am determined to finish the program, so I study at home with all the madness," she said, noting how helpful the faculty members are as mentors in both the academic and clinical setting.
"I feel like it’s never too late to do what you want to do in life. Nursing has been something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a dream of mine. I feel like you should chase your goals and always strive to do better. Getting a higher education is wonderful to do as well."
After graduation, Goodson hopes to work at UHC in the ICU and to "be the best nurse I can be."
