Meet Elijah.
Why do you want to be a nurse?
I want to be a nurse because of my father. He has AFib and has had multiple surgeries due to his condition. Every time he returns, he talks about how great his recovery nurses are and how they make him feel instantly comfortable in quite an uncomfortable situation. I want to provide that feeling to as many people as possible.
What does the Pledge Ceremony mean to you?
To me, the pledge ceremony represents the official start of my life as a nurse. It’s also an embodiment of my commitment to promote health and wellbeing for all.
Why did you choose WVU School of Nursing?
I chose WVU School of Nursing because of the amazing program and the 100% NCLEX pass rate. I knew that, by coming to WVU, I would be getting a stellar nursing education and would be fully prepared for wherever I choose to take my career.
What do you hope to do after graduation?
After graduation, I hope to work as a post-surgical recovery nurse in a cardiac unit. I am also considering travel nursing.
