Why do you want to become a nurse? 

I want to become a nurse because I have been blessed with the gift of caring unconditionally and the dauntless ability to advocate for others when they cannot speak for themselves, are treated unjustly, or just need someone on their side. Knowledge is power. By growing my knowledge throughout nursing school I am able to obtain a different perspective that allows me to critically think and problem solve in ways I haven't been able to before. This is beneficial for my patients but it is also beneficial to me. I am able to assess my health and use my nursing knowledge to improve my lifestyle. 

Why did you choose the WVU School of Nursing? 

I chose the WVU School of Nursing because it is the most prestigious program in the state. I would not trade my program, classmates, and nursing faculty for anything. If you are looking for a program that is going to invest in you, advocate for your success, and cheer you on throughout your nursing journey, this is the program that will do that. 

What do you hope to do after graduation? 

After graduation I want to work as a labor and delivery nurse before furthering my education to becoming a nurse midwife. Since I was a child, I have known that my calling is to take care of children whether that be my own or someone else's. I chose labor and delivery because by working with the mothers, I am also benefiting the child. By helping educate the mothers about their health and their babies, I am contributing to improving that child's quality of life. Another contributing factor to my decision of labor and delivery/midwifery is that I think childbirth is one of the most beautiful occurrences one can witness.
