Meet Jonathan B.
What made you consider nursing as a program of study?
I have always wanted to further my healthcare career and I enjoy helping those in need so nursing was an excellent fit for me.
Did you have an ah-ha moment about wanting to become a nurse?
Long story short; my wife and I found out we were expecting and decided to move back to our hometown from Pennsylvania, almost immediately I found the nursing program at Bridgeport and all the pieces just fell together for me.
Why did you choose WVU School of Nursing?
Mostly out of convenience. I have my other bachelor’s and master’s degrees through WVU so it seemed like an easy decision to continue with them. That paired with us moving back to Clarksburg made it all too easy.
Could you share a positive experience from your time at the SON?
I think the friendships I made along the way are the most positive aspect. Without our friend group, I do not think I would have done as well or enjoyed my time there as much as I did.
What’s one piece of advice you would give your freshman self?
Form a friend group and study hard.
What are your plans after graduation?
I start at the Emergency Room at UHC in September and from there I hope to eventually continue my education and go on to be a Nurse Practitioner.
How do you feel WVU prepared you for your next chapter?
WVU provided me the tools and knowledge I needed to feel confident in my abilities to succeed as a nurse.
