Meet Gracie.

Why do you want to become a nurse?
Becoming a nurse has always been an aspiration of mine. I have desire to care and advocate for patients and hopefully make a meaningful difference in their lives.
Why did you want to become an ambassador?
Being an ambassador for the WVU SON would mean I get to help make students feel welcomed and comfortable in their choice to come to WVU. Nursing school can be overwhelming and being there to answer questions, share my experience, and encourage others is something I feel is important.
What would you like prospective nursing students to know about the WVU School of
Nursing?
WVU School of Nursing is an excellent program that provides strong education, has a supportive faculty, and really prepares you for your future nursing practice. There are a lot of hands-on opportunities to learn and practice any nursing skills.
What’s your best advice for high schoolers interested in nursing?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek advice from students in nursing school, or even current nurses. Take your education seriously – nursing school is not easy, but it isn’t supposed to be, we are caring for people’s lives, and there are plenty of people to support you and provide resources on your journey!
Anything else you’d like to add?
Nursing isn’t just a career, it’s more than that. It can be challenging in many ways, but it is so rewarding. The WVU School of Nursing creates an environment that is built for success, and it is a place where I feel sure in my decision to become a nurse and serve my community.
